History of the Department:

L.T.K College was established in 1977 on 22^nd August at Azad, North Lakhimpur, Assam and permanently affiliated to Dibrugarh University. At the initial stage, it offered higher education in the Arts stream only and in 1994 science stream was started with a view to impart science education to the rural youths. Since the inception of the college, Economics has been offering as a major subject. The Department of Economics offers both B.A Honours and Generic Elective after the introduction of CBSC. This department has produced more than 46 batches of students since its inception.

Vision: 

The vision of our department is to implant interest in economics in the minds of the youth aspiring for higher education. Our department has been successfully enhancing the knowledge and the skills of the students, pertaining to various branches of Economics and it also focuses on the rural economy so as to contribute in the development of rural economy of the vicinity apart from the prescribed curriculum.

Mission :

The primary mission of the Economics department is to offer educational opportunities to students in order to prepare them to become accomplished citizens and professionally capable of critical thinking and independent analysis. Moreover, another important mission of the department is to increase financial awareness in society through the students. Further, the department also aspires to produce students with sufficient expertise and knowledge in the field of Economics so as to contribute in the development of the economic condition of society.
