History:

Lakhimpur Telahi Kamalboria College was established on 22^nd August 1977. The arts stream of this college was brought under deficit grant-in-aid system in the year 1987. The college is permanently affiliated to Dibrugarh University and registered under 2(f) and 12 (b) U.G.C. Act 1956. From the very initiation of the college the Department of Education offering education subject to the youths of the greater area of this locality. The Honours in Education was started in this college from the year 1994.  Since then many students got first class in education (Honours). The honours graduates are well placed in different places across Assam till date.

Mrs. Sampurna Chaliha was the first teaching faculty who joined on 25^th August 1988 in Department of Education of L.T.K. College. Mrs. Jyoti Boruah was joined as teaching faculty on 26^th August 1988 in this department. Later on Mr. Siladitya Dutta became an integral part of the Department of Education of L.T.K. College from 30^th September 1995. Since then Department of Education is working for the fulfillment of the demands of collge students. Subsequently Mrs. Debajani Borah (passed out student of education department) joined this department as a contractual teacher on 1^st August 2013 to fulfill the needs of the students. Afterwards Mrs. Sampurna Chaliha got retire from this department on 31^st March 2019 after giving tremendous contributions in different aspects of this college. Successively Mr. Pranjal Das was joined in this department on 18^th March 2020 to serve the needs of the college. Consecutively Mrs. Jyoti Boruah got retire from this department on 31^st August 2021 after giving remarkable contributions in different aspects of this college.

Vision & Mission:

The vision of the Department of Education is to develop good citizens who can contribute effectively to the development of the society as well as the nation. The vision of the Education Department are:

i. Establish the department as a centre of excellence for pedagogy, curriculum and research.

ii. Develop sensitive and competent citizens who can contribute equally to the development of the nation.

iii. Develop the prospective citizen’s ability to deal with the challenges.

iv. Develop creativity and spirituality among the students.

v. Conduct action research for solving the issues which arises during the course of time.

vi. Train the students with hands on experiences by using different laboratory instruments, visiting schools and community.

vii. Give students the exposure to different project works

viii. Prepare students for different competitive exams by providing coaching to them.

ix. To take steps to introduce different add-on courses.

x. To promote a scientific approach towards life.
