L.T.K. College, Azad, Lakhimpur achieved a significant academic milestone with the formal inauguration of the UNESCO Association Centre (Zone–04), RCUN–NER on its campus, followed by the celebration of United Nations Day on 24 October 2025. The occasion marked a new chapter in the institution’s journey towards global academic engagement, research excellence, and the promotion of the ideals and objectives of the United Nations.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed between L.T.K. College and RCUN–NER, UNESCO Association, Guwahati, officially recognizing the institution as a Centre of Excellence committed to research, innovation, and global citizenship.
The United Nations Day celebration was jointly organized by L.T.K. College, the Indian Federation of United Nations Associations (IFUNA), New Delhi, and the UNESCO Association, Guwahati.
The programme began with a Welcome Address by Dr. Debajit Dutta. The Felicitation Ceremony was conducted by Dr. Poli Baruah. The UN Session was formally inaugurated by Dr. Bubul Kumar Saikia.
Sri Pranabjit Kakati, Hon’ble District Commissioner of Lakhimpur, inaugurated the UNESCO Library Corner and delivered the Keynote Address emphasizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dr. Aswini Kumar Sarma presented the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, while Mrs. Bhanita Kalita presented the Mission Knowledge Programme focusing on youth empowerment and innovation.
The inauguration of the UNESCO Association Centre (Zone–04) and the celebration of United Nations Day 2025 reaffirm L.T.K. College’s commitment to global values, academic excellence, research culture, and sustainable development, positioning the institution as an emerging centre of global academic engagement in Northeast India.
