Under the UGC Community College Scheme, our college offers a Diploma in Food Processing to aspiring students for better employable opportunities under the guidance of NSDC with proper NSQF levels. For the Diploma Course, 34 Nos. of students were selected properly on a merit basis.

The main objectives are:

(i) to make higher education relevant to the learner and the community;

(ii) to integrate relevant skills into the higher education system;

(iii) to provide skill-based education to students currently pursuing higher education but actually interested in entering the workforce at the earliest opportunity;

(iv) to provide employable and certifiable skills with necessary general education to Senior Secondary School pass-outs not willing to join the existing higher education system;

(v) to provide for up-gradation and certification of traditional / acquired skills of the learners irrespective of their age;

(vi) to provide opportunities for community-based life-long learning by offering courses of general interest to the community for personal development and interest;

(vii) to provide an opportunity to move to higher education in future

Introduction:

The Community College on "Food Processing" is going to be started under the umbrella of LTK College from the session 2015-2016. In the beginning, the Community College will provide skills-based education for the tenure of one year at the end of which the student will be awarded a certificate of diploma after their successful completion of the course. The tenure of one year is divided into two semesters. The minimum requisite qualification for getting admission is 10+2 or its equivalent qualification or National skill qualification Framework level 3 qualified.

For smooth management of the community college, a Board of Management is constituted as per the UGC guidelines.

The Board of Management consisting of eight members shall function as the overall authority of the community college. It shall act as a policy and decision-making body and supervise the implementation of the policies and decisions entrusted to different functional bodies which shall be responsible to the Board of Management.

The board of management shall constitute different functional bodies under its supervision to evolve a mechanism for the smooth conduct of the activities of the community college. It shall depute on appoint all the functionaries including the nodal officer and their tenure shall depend on the satisfaction of the Board of Management which shall have the authority to terminate and extend the tenure of such appointees. Such functional bodies are-

1) Financial committee: The committee is entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the accounts including income and expenditure of the Community College. The accounts and audit reports are subject to the approval of the Board of Management. The Community shall consist of three (3) members headed by the Principal of the College. The Financial Committee has to audit the accounts of income and expenditure by deputing bonafide persons and all such reports of accounts and the audit shall have to be approved by the board of management.

2) Purchase committee: The purchase committee consisting of three (3) members shall be constituted by the Board of Management. The committee shall be entrusted with purchasing infrastructural and technology requirements as approved by the board of management from time to time. The committee shall maintain the stock record of the assets and submit a copy of the stock record to the Board of Management. The Purchase Committee shall also be responsible to the Board of Management.

3) Academic Committee: The Committee consists of the principal as its chairman and the Nodal officer as its convenor and two other members. The committee shall be responsible for admission, regular holding of class, and examinations; it shall prepare an academic Calender and Curriculum of National Occupational standards in consultation with the Board of Management. The Nodal officer shall furnish the daily record of classes and other academic matters to the Principal for his monitoring.

The Board of Management shall be responsible for sending the records of the community college to the UGC after each semester and shall facilitate the inspection of the experts from the higher authorities.
