STUDENTS' REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCES RELATED TO ACADEMIC AND COVID-19 PANDEMIC: NOTICE DOWNLOAD

The Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) aims to look into the complaints lodged by any student and redress them as per requirement. The students can state their grievances regarding any academic and non-academic matter within the campus through the online grievance/ suggestion box. The institution aims at solving the grievances of the students within stipulated academic and non-academic matters within the campus through the online grievance/ suggestion box. Grievances Redressal cell deals with all types of grievances, complaints, and malpractices including those received from Students, Faculty, and other Stakeholders.

As suggested by University Grant Commission, New Delhi, the College has established a Grievance Redressal Cell, to provide a mechanism for redressal of students’ grievances and ensure transparency in admission, the prevention of unfair practices, etc. To realize the primary needs of the students and staff and secure civil liberties for everybody, a Grievance Redressal Cell has been working in our college since 2000. The function of the cell is to look into the complaints lodged by any students and judge their merit. The Grievance Cell is also empowered to look into the matter of harassment. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the department members in person or consult with the officer in charge of the Grievance Redressal Cell. In case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at the letterbox/ suggestion box of the Grievance Cell at Administrative Block. Grievances may also be sent through e-mail to the officer-in-charge of the Students Grievance Cell.

Objectives:

The main objective of the GRC is to ensure an approachable and responsible attitude among the staff towards the students to uphold harmony on the campus. In this context the objectives of the GRC are

1. To develop an organizational framework to resolve Grievances of Students and other stakeholders.

2. To provide the student’s access to immediate, hassle-free recourse to have their Grievances redressed

3. To enlighten the students on their duties and responsibilities to access benefits due under the policies

4. To establish structured interactions with students to elicit information on their expectations.

5. To identify systemic flaws in the design and administration of various general insurance products and to seek solutions thereon.

6. To institute a monitoring mechanism to oversee the functioning of the Grievance Redressal Policy.

7. Encouraging the Students to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.

8. Suggestion/complaining Box will be installed in the Administrative Block in which the students, who want to remain anonymous, put in writing their grievances and their suggestions for improving the Academics / Administration in the College.

9. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the institution. Any violation of ragging and disciplinary rules should be urgently brought to the notice of the Principal

Mechanism of the GRC-

1. Grievance redressal committee (GRC) shall consider only individual grievances of specific nature of students and staff.

2. The GRC shall not consider any grievance of general applicability or collective nature raised collectively by more than one employee/student.

3. Post receipt of the complaint/application the committee will decide on the merit of the case regarding the scope of further discussion investigation and act promptly.

4. The GRC may mediate between complainant and defendant against who the complaint has been made, it required.

5. GRC shall consider redressing grievances within a reasonable time.

6. The cell will report to the authority about the cases attended to and seek guidance from the higher authorities if required.

Scope:

The CSGRC deals with Grievances received in writing from students about any of the following matters:

1. Academic matters: Related to timely use of duplicate mark sheet (DMC), transfer certificate, conduct certificate, and other examination-related matters

2. Financial matters: Related to dues and payments for various items from fee clerk, library, hostels, etc.

3. Library matters: Issue and return of books, syllabus, photocopy, and university question papers.

4. Accommodation matters: Related to hostels.

5. Other matters: Related to certain misgivings about conditions of sanitation, preparation of food, availability of transport, victimization by teachers, etc.

Functions:

1. The cases will be attended to promptly on receipt of written grievances from the students. The cell formally will review all cases and will act accordingly as per the Management policy.

2. The cell will report to the authority about the cases attended to and the number of pending cases, if any, which require direction and guidance from the higher authorities.

Powers:

1. In case of any grievance the members of the cell are empowered to sort out the problems at their level through discussion with students

2. In case the members fail to find out any solution then the matter is referred to the principal for final comment the matter

3. Considering the nature and depth of the grievances due inquiry is made by the members of the cell and through personal discussion, the matter is solved.

4. If anybody is found to be guilty of any kind of nuisance, he or she is given punishment with due consideration by the principal. The nature of punishment includes verbal as well as written warning, information to the parents, financial punishment, information to the police (if the situation arises for so), and being expelled from the college as per the rule of the university.

3. To acquaint all teacher-trainees with their rights and duties.

4. To solve the various personal and educational related grievances of the teacher-trainee

5. To make the institute student-friendly,

6. To ensure the qualitative as well as quantitative development of the institutions through GRC.
